What is Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Europe?
Extended Producer Responsibility is a legal framework under which producers may be responsible for financing and organising the collection, recycling and reporting of products after use. Each European country implements its own national EPR requirements.
Do I need EPR registration in every European country where I sell?
Not automatically. A sale alone does not create an EPR obligation in every country. The answer depends on the legal framework of the target country, the product category, the sales model, the place of establishment, the legal entity placing the product on the market and any applicable exemptions or thresholds. Each case must be assessed country by country.
When do foreign producers need an Authorised Representative for EPR?
Some European countries require a producer established abroad to appoint a local Authorised Representative, while others permit direct registration or apply different rules by product category. We identify the applicable requirement and coordinate the appointment when needed.
